"Acclaimed for insightful performances, brilliant artistry and technical mastery,
the Houston String Quartet is one of the city's foremost chamber ensembles,
and has amassed an impressive list of achievements. The ensemble is lauded
as a string quartet that approaches both classical and contemporary repertoire
with equal mastery and enthusiasm.
Members of the ensemble Coach Chamber Music, give master classes and
provide instrumental instruction. The musicians are members of Houston's finest musical organizations, including the Houston Symphony, the Houston Ballet Orchestra,
and the Houston Grand Opera Orchestra.
The theatrical nature of these extraordinary musicians and their powerful effect
on audiences has led to praise for the intensity and energy of their performances.
The Houston String Quartet recently performed the world premier of a new piece written by Houston composer Dr. Ken Booker. Entitled “A Revelatory Place,” the
five-movement work musically describes natural outdoor settings.
The concert, held in Galveston, Texas, was part of the 2007 FeatherFest events, and was met with great enthusiasm. The performance was an all-around success!"
