A
native of Flint, Michigan, she began her violin studies at age ten, graduating from Interlochen in 1970.

At the University of Michigan Amy studies both architecture and music. She transferred to Boston's New England Conservatory of Music to persue her violin studies.

Amy’s distinctive style has been influenced by performances with a variety of musicians, including the rock group Emerson, Lake and Palmer, the eclectic Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Baroque ensembles in Boston, and Houston jazz artists. She performed at the White House for President Gerald Ford in 1974 with the New England Conservatory Ragtime Ensemble. She has toured Europe, Japan, Singapore and South America with classical ensembles, and is a former member of the Tallis Quartet. Prior to living in Houston, Ms. Teare resided in Europe, where she was a member of professional symphony orchestras. Since 1982, she has been a violinist with the Houston Symphony.

She was a member of N.E.C.’s orchestra, Ragtime Ensemble and Scholarship String Quartet, touring Europe with these groups. She received her Bachelor of Music Degree from N.E.C. in 1974.

Ms. Teare moved to Europe in the late seventies to perform professionally with the National Opera Orchestra of Belgium, the State Orchestra/Opera of Hamburg and the North German Radio Orchestra. She has been a member of the Houston Symphony violin section since 1982

Amy has performed as a musician for wedding ceremonies and receptions since her days in Boston. As an educator, she has played in schools and taught private violin lessons for 18 years. Her non-classical work has included recording studio sessions in Boston and Houston and performances as back-up violinist with popular groups.

Amy now lives with her family in the historic Woodland Heights neighborhood of Houston, Texas.

As leader and contractor of the Houston String Quartet and Trio, Amy brings a wealth of knowledge and broad range of experience to each event. Her clients needs and satisfaction are important to her. Professional results are her goal - and your reality!
