Amy’s distinctive style has been influenced by performances with a variety of musicians, including the rock group Emerson, Lake and Palmer, the eclectic Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Baroque ensembles in Boston, and Houston jazz artists. She performed at the White House for President Gerald Ford in 1974 with the New England Conservatory Ragtime Ensemble. She has toured Europe, Japan, Singapore and South America with classical ensembles, and is a former member of the Tallis Quartet. Prior to living in Houston, Ms. Teare resided in Europe, where she was a member of professional symphony orchestras. Since 1982, she has been a violinist with the Houston Symphony. |

She
was a member of N.E.C.’s orchestra, Ragtime Ensemble
and Scholarship String Quartet, touring Europe with
these groups. She received her Bachelor of Music Degree
from N.E.C. in 1974.
Ms.
Teare moved to Europe in the late seventies to perform
professionally with the National
Opera Orchestra of Belgium, the State Orchestra/Opera
of Hamburg and the North German Radio Orchestra.
She has been a member of the Houston
Symphony violin section since 1982
Amy
has performed as a musician for wedding ceremonies and
receptions since her days in Boston. As an educator,
she has played in schools and taught private violin
lessons for 18 years. Her non-classical work has included
recording studio sessions in Boston and Houston and
performances as back-up violinist with popular groups.
Amy now lives with her family in the historic Woodland
Heights neighborhood of Houston, Texas.
